you know how sometimes when people are telling you about a moment or a night or an event or something and they end up saying "you had to be there"?
this is one of em
and ps, I don't think the sound is that poor at all, I know painfully well how quirky JA soundsytems can be and given all elements involved on this particular night I think this sounds quite alright. thank you very much for all the shows you recorded on that trip.
sidenote: I've got a pic from this show that has your schoeps looking like theyre in the band too :)

Near the bottom of the pile? You mean for a matrix, or for recordings in general. Given the source, it's certainly one of the poorer matrices you'll hear.
It may depend on how much one is bothered by the numerous pops that came through the board. These were very loud, and I went through and muted them. These are certainly more apparent on the board recording than the mic recording, so something may have attenuated them at the show.
I'd be curious as to whether others agree that the sound on this is that poor.

Subject: Great show for emotional reasons, technically rough

First show back with John Mullins, and in an incredible setting (Negril Jamaica, on the cliffs) but the power went out more than once, the sound was quirky (to be kind), and that seems to have affected recordings moreso than the show. Or maybe we were all too busy grinning at each other and enjoying vacation ;)
Emotionally a great show, belongs in any hookahhead's collection for that reason, but sound-wise, it's gotta be near the bottom of the pile...and I think that will be true of any recording of this show, though this is the only one I've heard.
